RADIESSE
Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS RADIESSE?
Radiesse is an opaque, white colored dermal filler made up of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a water-based gel, FDA approved for subdermal implantation for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
WHAT IS RADIESSEÂ USED FOR?
The main use for Radiesse is to treat wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose, as well as to augment or replace volume loss to areas like the cheekbones, jawline, chin, and hands.
HOW LONG DO TREATMENT EFFECTS LAST?
Treatment effects will differ from person to person. Patients report between 6 months and some studies show up to 30 months after their last injection.
DO THE INJECTIONS HURT?
Injection may cause some discomfort during and after the procedure. You and your provider may decide to numb the treatment area with a topical or injected anesthetic to further reduce your discomfort.
YOU WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A CANDIDATE FOR DERMAL FILLER TREATMENTÂ IF:
You have had a severe reaction (hypersensitivity) to any of the components (CaHA, sterile water, carboxymethylcellulose, glycerin) or the lidocaine mixed in the syringe of the filler
You have a bleeding disorder.
You have a skin infection at the planned injection site.
You are pregnant or breastfeeding as safety in this patient population has not been established.
WHAT IS THE COST OF RADIESSE?
The cost depends on which product is chosen and the total amount of product used. When you come in for your initial consult, we discuss treatment goals and can usually give you a good idea of how much product you’ll need and the corresponding cost. We do not accept insurance.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE?
We do not book through Peninsula Family Medical Center. Please do not call PFMC to schedule. The schedulers do not have access to the MDI medical record or scheduling system.
