THERAPEUTIC USES

There are several therapeutic applications for Botox (and equivalent). The following is a list of non-aesthetic treatments we offer - scroll down to read more:

  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

  • TMJ disorder

  • Headaches

  • Chronic neck tension

  • Acne/ acne scarring 

  • Depression

HYPER-
HIDROSIS

Sweating is normal! However, when sweating becomes excessive, symptoms can significantly impact a person's daily functioning and quality of life.

Common treatment areas:

  • underarms

  • face

  • scalp

  • groin area

  • hands

  • feet

Treatment duration: 4-6 months initial treatment. Over time, patient's can go longer between treatments, typically 9-12 months.

TMJ DISORDER

Pain and tenderness in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles and ligaments.

Common symptoms:

  • headaches

  • jaw pain and/or stiffness 

  • shoulder/neck pain

  • headaches

  • ear aches

  • ringing in your ears (tinnitus)


Common causes:

  • Teeth grinding or clenching

  • jaw injury

  • arthritis in jaw joint

  • stress

Treatment duration: typically 4-6 months

Headache

HEAD-
ACHES

Botox is FDA approved to prevent and treat migraines. MD Injections performs modified treatments, if more extensive treatment is needed (ie injections to upper neck), referral to neurologist is recommended.

Treatment duration: 3-4 months

CHRONIC NECK TENSION

Botox can be used to target and relax chronically contracted or tense muscles. Initially, this treatment is most effective when combined with physical therapy.

Common causes:

  • stress

  • muscle strain

  • arthritis

  • poor ergonomics

  • injury

Common symptoms:

  • tension headaches

  • muscle spasms

  • neck and upper back pain


Treatment duration: 3-6 months

Back Pain

ACNE

Botox can be used in small doses to help decrease oil production and aids in preventing acne breakouts when combined with proper skin care regimen.
Botox can also help improve the appearance of acne scars by relaxing muscles around the scar.

Treatment duration: 3-4 months

DEPRESSION

By relaxing muscles of the face that contribute to frowning, Botox has been shown to help reduce emotional feedback associated with mild to moderate depression.
